Outpatient Rehab
The biggest and most obvious difference between outpatient rehab and inpatient rehab is that you do not sleep at the treatment facility if you are doing outpatient rehab.
Although inpatient treatment allows you to leave the rehab you are residing in (usually with a staff member) and go places like the grocery store, the doctor, the library, church, on hikes, to see family, and many other fun outings. With outpatient rehab you have a little more responsibility than you would if you were inpatient. You may have a little more freedom but you should use your time wisely and create structure in your life.

Every circumstance is different. Outpatient rehab can be the perfect option for some people if they have the right environment outside of their outpatient treatment. It also depends on what services you are receiving during outpatient rehab. You may be doing sauna or chelation treatment, counseling, and exercising at your outpatient rehab program, while at home you are working on your nutrition, rebuilding your life, and going to a group therapy session on your own every week.

Or maybe you are learning all of the skills and tools you will need to stay drug or alcohol free, and working on your nutrition, diet and overall health at your outpatient rehab. Maybe you are attending group therapy through your outpatient treatment. At home, you have taken it upon yourself to join a gym to stay in shape, found a counselor that you see on your own, and you are going to NA (Narcotics Anonymous) or AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings weekly. No matter what; you have to do other things than just enroll in outpatient rehab. You will have to incorporate other healthy activities into your life outside of your outpatient program. Outpatient rehab will teach you how to control your life after you are done with your outpatient program.

If outpatient rehab is more affordable for you, if it is more comfortable for you to sleep in your own home at night, or if you have time consuming obligations like a child, job, or school; outpatient rehab will offer you just as much healing and usable life skills as inpatient treatment would. Just like inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab will show you how to be happy and free without drugs or alcohol. You will have the support you need to overcome cravings and endure the rehabilitation process.

The combination of outpatient rehab with inpatient rehab is incredibly comfortable, successful and very common. For instance; you could do an inpatient cessation for 7 days or so and finish the rest of your recovery in outpatient rehab. Or if you feel more comfortable starting your recovery at home, you could start as an outpatient after you have cessation ified the toxins you want to get rid of. The right program will be chosen for you and your individual needs will be met, anything you may need you will get. Outpatient rehab is equally successful alongside inpatient recovery.
